This announcement on the Third Sector site illustrates the lack of distinction between Dr. Yunus’ definition of ’social business’ [investors do NOT receive any distribution from any profits] and ’social enterprise’ ['capital as usual' while social objectives are being addressed].

Green Party representative Siân Berry is the first candidate for the post of London Mayor to sign up to Social Enterprise London’s charter on the development of social businesses in the capital.

The charter, which was submitted to all four leading candidates, asks for an increase in the role of social enterprises in service delivery, a pledge to secure wider social and environmental benefits from government procurement processes and the formation of a community of social entrepreneurs to help tackle London’s public…
