Moscow Mayor Meets Prof Yunus
Help to introduce micro-credit sought

Mayor of Moscow YM Luzhkov has sought advice and assistance of Nobel laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus to introduce micro-credit and social business for the low-income people.
Luzhkov called on Prof Yunus in Moscow on April 4.
Luzhkov, a powerful leader of the ruling party who has been serving as Moscow’s mayor for 16 years, explained his city’s policies and the uses of 42 billion US dollar budget.
High officials of the Federal and City Government attended the meeting, said a message received here yesterday.
The mayor announced that Moscow city government would publish Prof Yunus’ book titled “Creating a World Without Poverty” in Russian language.
On April 3, Prof Yunus met with Mikhail Nikolaeb, deputy chairman of the Federal Council of Federation of Russia (Duma), and other five leading members of the Duma on the strategy to extend micro-credit to Russian poor people.
After the meeting Prof Yunus was decorated by the Presidium of the International Movement of “Eastern Dimension” with the International Order of Eastern Dimension for asserting the world’s highest ideals, humanism, progress and for enhancing friendship between Russian and Bangladeshi peoples.
In a separate ceremony at Higher School of Economics of the State University, Prof Yunus was inducted as the Honorary Professor of the university. He later addressed the faculty and students of the university.
