Demos and Young Foundation have just reissued the book Myths and Realities of Philanthrocapitalism by Michael Edwards who wrote it originally in 2003.
I have not read it yet, but look forward to doing it from the free download! In the interim, I recommend his article on this theme Philanthrocapitalism_after_the_goldrush
Reading it this late I will not do justice to the summary and will come back to it.
